The “National Daruma-san Koronda Championship” was held in Oji Town, Nara Prefecture, in October this year. The competition was to decide who would be the best in Japan in a serious game of “Daruma-san korodera,” a nostalgic game.

The venue for the competition was a historic temple associated with Daruma Daishi, the origin of Daruma-san.
More than 200 participants, ranging from children to adults, took part in the competition.
Participants were divided into teams and had to repeatedly move and stop to avoid being caught by the ogres and reach the goal.
