Kichijoji Sato, a meat and delicatessen store, is located just a minute’s walk from Kichijoji Station.
It was reopened in 2018.
The name “Kichijoji Satou” has become synonymous with “Satou’s Menchikatsu” when talking about Kichijoji.
It is a popular restaurant with a long line even on weekdays.
The beef is purchased directly from contracted farmers or at market auctions.
The whole process is done at Kichijoji Sato without using a middleman, so they offer delicious food at a low price.
By the way, the logo was drawn by Soun Takeda.
Kichijoji Sato opens at 10:00 a.m., but the menchikatsu is available from 10:30 a.m.
Be careful if you are going there for the first time.
If you want to buy menchikatsu, you will have to wait in a special line, but for other food items, you can buy them relatively quickly without standing in line.
It is nice that they sell them separately.
There is always a line at Kichijoji Satou, but sometimes it is empty.
I try to buy when I find it empty.
The batter is crispy and the meat is very juicy.
There is so much minced meat in it.
The crunch of the onions is also irresistible!
It is delicious as it is, but it is also excellent when you go home and eat it with sauce.
I usually only buy menchikatsu, but this was the first time I bought Gekiauma croquettes.
I think it takes a lot of courage for a restaurant to put “Gekiauma” in the name.
When you break it open, you find that the inside is filled with paste-like potatoes!
It’s hearty, moist, and most importantly, easy to eat.
※ Kichijoji
Kichijoji is often cited as one of the top places to live in Tokyo because of its relative proximity to Shibuya and Shinjuku. The symbol of Kichijoji is Inokashira Onshi Koen, located a few minutes away from Kichijoji Station. When the sun goes down, head to “Hamonica Yokocho,” a row of deep, standing bars. The station building is also a great place for shopping, dining, and souvenir shopping. Kirarina Keio Kichijoji, directly connected to Kichijoji Station, offers a wide variety of fashion and gourmet stores. Nearby is the Kichijoji Odeon, a movie theater with a history of over 40 years.
